Principal Software Engineer (Digital Audio)

Background

This is a challenging role for an experienced Principal Software Engineer with an exceptional talent for system architecture, technical leadership and hands-on embedded software engineering - ideally in the areas of software defined radio, digital audio and Internet streaming. The successful candidate will join our team of engineers developing software for high-volume consumer electronics and automotive products based on our Digital Radio and IP Radio SoCs.

Key responsibilities

• Hands-on development and technical leadership of a wide variety of embedded software including applications, drivers, protocols and baseband algorithms
• Working closely with Project Managers and participating fully in the product development life cycle to ensure projects are delivered on-time and to requirements
• Working with members of the Software Management team to improve and promote the software development processes
• Serving as a role model though active use of company methods and standards, excellent team working, excellent communication, and supporting other team members
• Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of current and future technologies relevant to Frontier Silicon’s products and markets – from overall architecture to low-level technical details

Qualifications and experience

• Good honours degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
• At least 10 years software development experience in the semiconductor, consumer electronics or related industries
• Excellent understanding of embedded systems architecture and design
• Expert in embedded C programming and system debugging
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Excellent team working and co-operation with others
• Self-motivated and highly productive with a can-do attitude, able to work efficiently as part of a distributed development team
• Experience of developing software for the automotive industry desirable
• Knowledge of Python and/or M4 a benefit
