Frontier Silicon leads DAB market as Goodmans launch World's first DAB digital radio range

LONDON, 23 October 2002: Frontier Silicon today announces that Goodmans Industries Limited has launched the world's first mass-market DAB Digital Radio product range, including the first products integrating a DAB Digital Radio Tuner and CD Player. Goodmans range, which exclusively uses DAB chips from Frontier Silicon, confirms Frontier as the number one worldwide supplier of DAB processors.

Goodmans has uniquely incorporated the latest state-of-the-art DAB Digital Radio technology into popular high volume audio products, which will significantly increase the reach of DAB into the UK mass market. Goodmans is also the first to offer DAB products powered by both battery and mains making them truly portable.

The exclusive new product range from Goodmans includes a portable stereo CD player with DAB digital radio, a personal CD player with DAB digital radio and matching active speakers, an In-car CD head unit with DAB digital radio and a hi-fi separates tuner with DAB digital radio. All products are expected to retail between £100 and £200, capitalising on the potential for lower cost DAB devices enabled by the Imagination Technologies IP licensed by Frontier Silicon.

The Goodmans DAB Digital Radio range kicks-off with the introduction of the stylish GPS280 Portable Stereo CD Player, which will be available through leading High Street retailers for the Christmas market, this will be followed by the GCD200ACTIVE Personal CD Player, whilst the introduction of the GCE7007 In-Car model and GTS2000 Tuner, will take place early in 2003.

Goodmans integrated digital radios are powered by the Frontier Silicon FS-1010 DAB/Audio processor, a highly integrated, third generation SoC based on the META processor design and Ensigma DAB IP licensed from Imagination Technologies. Frontier Silicon has rapidly become the number one supplier of DAB processors and modules in the world with branded customers including: Goodmans, Ministry of Sound, PURE Digital, Acoustic Solutions and Cambridge Audio.
