Frontier Silicon's Advanced RF Technology Enables German Mobile TV Launch

London, 9 March 2006: The deployment of Mobile TV in Germany is at an advanced stage, with commercial services using the T-DMB broadcast standard planned for June to coincide with the FIFA Soccer World Cup. At CeBIT, the world's largest trade fair showcasing digital IT and telecommunications solutions, Frontier will showcase its RF device "Apollo". Apollo is the enabler of Mobile TV in Germany this year.

Silicon tuner Apollo - brings mobile TV and digital radio together

Frontier Silicon has developed an RF IC, Apollo, which is ideally suited to the demands of the emerging Mobile TV market in Germany. Germany has allocated spectrum in L-Band (1452MHz to 1492MHz) for this service. Apollo is the only silicon tuner on the market that allows reception of T-DMB at both VHF and L-Band frequencies while retaining low powered operation making it ideally suited for low power, hand-held devices such as mobile phones. Apollo also enables digital radio DAB reception at both VHF and L-Band, so consumers can also enjoy high quality audio services on their T-DMB devices.

Apollo tuner has passed the tests

In conjunction with German network operator T-Systems, Apollo has already undergone extensive field testing in Germany within a Samsung T-DMB broadcast phone. T-Systems will display a range of mobile TV devices at CeBIT.

With silicon already deployed in a range of T-DMB products available in stores today, Frontier Silicon is one of the largest volume shippers of mobile TV chips giving customers the confidence to develop class leading devices NOW.

Mobile TV Momentum - both T-DMB and DVB-H

As the momentum for Mobile TV increase, there is an explosion in trials and launches from South Korea to China, India to Europe using both T-DMB and DVB-H as the broadcast standard.

Having established itself as a major force in Mobile TV already shipping hundreds of thousands of T-DMB chipsets, Frontier Silicon will release samples of it's multi-standard solution, featuring T-DMB and DVB-H on a single chip in Q3. This ensures that the company continues to be well positioned for further growth in this exciting market.
