Frontier Silicon secures key appointments in WorldDMB

London - 10th November 2009: Frontier Silicon, the leading supplier of digital radio technology, announces it has secured two key board appointments within the WorldDMB organisation. Anthony Sethill, (Frontier CEO) is appointed Vice President and Mark Hopgood, (Frontier Director of Marketing) becomes Chairman of the Marketing Committee.

WorldDMB is an international organisation whose objective it is to coordinate the implementation of all Eureka-147-based technologies, including DAB, DAB+ and DMB. Anthony Sethill explains “WorldDMB’s standards are at the forefront of the migration from analogue to digital radio. As the leading supplier of Eureka-147-based technologies to receiver manufacturers, Frontier Silicon is a significant stakeholder in the market. As Vice President I bring a wealth of technology and consumer electronics experience to the organisation and will devote considerable effort to driving WorldDMB forward ensuring our industry has a world leading standards organisation at its foundation.”

Mark Hopgood adds “With the migration from analogue to digital radio underway in Europe and Australia, it is more important than ever that WorldDMB provides first class support and informed information to the whole value chain. It is the job of the Marketing Committee to bring this wealth of knowledge and experience to our members and to champion the benefits Eureka-147 based standards provide to the whole digital media industry ensuring seamless digital migration.”

One of the most significant developments to benefit the radio industry was the creation of the WorldDMB profiles. By combining the DAB, DAB+ and DMB Radio family of Eukeka-147 standards into a set of profiles, technology providers such as Frontier Silicon have enabled radio manufacturers to produce low cost, low power, high performance receivers that interoperate across Europe and Australia.
